a5c7b9f00b Jackie Chan is Inspector Lee, a Hong Kong Detective who helps confiscate three dollars worth of stolen Chinese artifacts from Crime Lord Juntao. Seeking revenge, Juntao kidnaps the daughter of the Chinese consul when he moves to America. Chan is sent as a diplomatic advisor and finds himself paired up with a Los Angeles cop (Chris Tucker) - a man who works alone, and wants to stay that way. Realizing that the FBI and their by the book tactics may be unsuccessful, the Chinese consul recruits the aid of a loyal Hong Kong inspector to help rescue his kidnapped daughter. Outlawed by the FBI, the inspector must form an unlikely partnership with a cocky, street smart LAPD officer who prefers doing things his own way. Perhaps this film will earn Jackie Chan the popularity he deserves in the United States. Good action, chemistry and photography. This is one of the best movies of 1998 I guarantee! It's just plain fun! I'm considering going for a third time !!!!

This movie does not rely on plot, nor realism to make it work. For all you ppl commenting on that well then don't go see an action/comedy if that's the way you think! It's supposed to be FUNNY, not super-realistic! Since when do hong-kong cops go arresting people using karate moves?

Chris tucker and Jackie chan make an amazing pair! I was laughing all through the film, so was the whole cinema. True there are not many action scenes but there doesn't need to be! I recommend this to EVERYONE except those serious people who are never pleased at anything! The movie seems to proceed from somebody's notion that it would be hilarious to see a black guy and a Chinese guy working together.
